We are now SouthWest Counseling (SWC), an informal affiliation of former Southwest Counseling Associates staff members, now in private practice. As the result of an executive board decision, Southwest Counseling Associates (SCA) dissolved on November 30, 2021. To preserve the mission, standards and culture of SCA, therapists listed on this site continue to work together in supporting each other and serving our community. DETAILS
Jennifer Pollock
MSW, Licensed Clinical Social Worker
EMDR Certified
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and an EMDR Certified Therapist. I have been working as a psychotherapist and using EMDR therapy since 2002. My desire and calling to be a psychotherapist began in middle school, when friends started sharing with me their secret problems. I was encouraged to learn that I could help them shoulder their burdens and find hope.
I received my Bachelor of Psychology degree from Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts, spending my Junior year abroad in Oxford, England. I obtained my Master of Social Work degree from New Mexico State University.
Between college and the present, I enjoyed a variety of experiences that helped form my present perspective in caring for others. After college, I served as a peer counselor at a residential farm setting in New Hampshire called His Mansion, where I encouraged young adults emerging from difficult lifestyles. After that, I worked with mentally ill youth in a group home in Massachusetts. While earning my MSW, I worked as the facilitator of community education for La Pinon Sexual Assault Recovery Services. Besides all ages of people in the community, I trained first responders and also served as a first responder with rape and sexual assault victims.
After graduate school, I spent almost two decades with Southwest Counseling Associates in Littleton, Colorado. I have made the transition with a number of my previous co-workers into our new entity of Southwest Counseling.
I specialize in trauma, including PTSD, dissociation, and other trauma-related symptoms. I appreciate working with women’s issues, anxiety, and grief as well. Besides EMDR therapy, I utilize therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral, Narrative, and Gestalt. However, my services have most often been sought out for EMDR, and I am passionate about how it can be used to bring healing in numerous situations.
I currently balance life between clients and my family, consisting of my wonderful husband and our three active and animated children. In my spare time, I enjoy running, walking, hiking, gardening, playing ColorKu, playing the piano, and singing (much to my family’s chagrin)!
