Jim Lewis

MA, MDiv, Licensed Professional Counselor

Jim Lewis earned his Master of Divinity degree from Faith Baptist Theological Seminary. He received his MA in Counseling Psychology from the University of Colorado at Denver, where his course work involved specialized studies in marriage and family therapy in addition to the standard curriculum. Now in his mid 70s, Jim identifies with adult clients throughout their life span.

A licensed professional counselor, Jim is experienced in treating adults for diverse issues including depression and bipolar disorders, anxiety and panic disorders, abuse recovery, grief, divorce recovery and single parenting. He has done in-depth studies of attachment theory, interpersonal neurobiology and management of chronic pain. He has extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Forward-Facing Trauma Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

At least half of Jim’s work is with couples, with special focus on premarital counseling, communication skills and conflict resolution, and recovery from infidelity. Jim is professionally trained in multiple couples’ therapy programs including Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program (PREP), Sue Johnson’s Emotionally Focused Therapy and the John Gottman method. He is also a certified provider of two premarital programs: Prepare and Enrich, and Saving Your Marriage Before it Starts (SYMBIS).
