Mindfulness involves work and discipline, through daily practice. Just as some of us go to the gym to maintain our body in shape, just as some of us pay attention to the daily foods and drinks we consume, mindfulness involves training our minds, focusing our attention on our emotions, thoughts and the bodily sensations.
Keeping up a mindfulness routine while traveling is not easy. Many times we tend to hurry to see and do as much as we can during our travel, which makes us lose some of the joy and subtle sensations it brings us – and they are exactly those that matter most!
You will need to be more careful with each step, focusing your attention on what is happening each moment at a time, without anticipating. Become aware of the presence of thoughts, physical sensations and emotions during the travel. Observe when your mind compares, generalizes, evaluates… Make a travel blog and write about all these.
Therefore, the mind can be exercised and modeled to perceive, act and react for our benefit. Travel is an experience in which we can develop new capabilities and learn to appreciate things in ways we didn’t knew before.
